For World Shorebird Day, we visited 3 locations to participate in this day to celebrate and point attention to shorebirds. Numbers submitted via ebird. Semipalmated Plover - 1 Redmond Killdeer - 3 Hatfield, 22 Redmond, 2 Tumalo Res American Avocet - 1 Hatfield Spotted Sandpiper, 1 Redmond, 9 Tumalo Res Solitary Sandpiper - 2 Redmond Greater Yellowlegs - 2 Hatfield, 3 Redmond Lesser Yellowlegs - 4 Redmond Semipalmated Sandpiper - 1 Redmond Western Sandpiper - 14 Hatfield, 2 Redmond Least Sandpiper - 3 Hatfield, 3 Redmond Wilson's snipe - 3 Hatfield Red-necked Phalaropes - 2 Hatfield, 8 Tumalo Res We found zero Dowitchers or Wilson's Phalaropes! Other notables today, Golden Eagle and Red-shouldered Hawk Tumalo Res, still a Yellow-headed Blackbird at Hatfield, 2 Sora, 1 Virginia Rail. Had 3 buteo species at Redmond around just 2 adjacent lengths of irrigation line, Ferruginous, Swainson's and Red-tailed. One Western Kingbird seen over those fields to the east. Willow Flycatcher at Lynx pond but no shorebirds in Redmond except at main pond. Back sectioned area behind the gate is all essentially dry. Warbler flocks here and there mult locations with 6 species noted, mostlyYellow-rump, plenty of Orange-crowned etc. Huge numbers of Savannah Sparrows today, just seemed to be dense everywhere there is low brush, weeds, low vegetation.
