Saw a couple birds of interest recently. Today there was a
breeding-plumaged HORNED GREBE on the N. Spit of Coos Bay, which makes it
the latest spring record I know of.

Also I observed a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE there on the 18th which is either
the lastest spring northbound migrant or the earliest southbound bird on
record for Coos.

The first southbound shorebirds should be arriving in the next week or so.
With shorebirds seen now it's hard to say whether they are coming or going
or just nonbreeders...

Merry migration!
