[obol] Atmospheric River

There is a series of storms headed our way over the next week, beginning
Thursday with a storm out of the Gulf of Alaska.
The atmospheric river event is now projected for Saturday with the
majority of the vapor transport is aimed at Northern California and
Southern Oregon.
Typhoon Songda currently around 30N, 150E will get entrained in the
Jet Stream and travel across the Pacific this week, bringing moisture
and energy to this system on Saturday, helping it to develop into the
deep low currently forecasted by the models. This system bears
watching, as any change in the track or intensity of this system
could mean significant changes in timing, wind, and how much rain we
see on Saturday. Beyond Saturday, the models keep active weather
through the extended period, with rain continuing through Sunday and
Monday.

Folks have queried when the best time to bird is during these events...
Well, if you have a properly positioned window in your condo, you can
start with the weather. I live a sane distance away from the immediate
ocean and like to get out between storm breaks, early morning if possible.
Those looking for wrecks of seabirds on the beach would want to get out
after the first high tide after the weather.
