Hi all,

Interesting to see Stephan Schlick's report from north of Banks
yesterday. It will be interesting to watch if this turns out to be
a one-time overshoot, or a range expansion.

To add another report (the rest of this was previously posted to
the Midvalley Birding list, just to warn anyone who already read it
there and doesn't like repetition ...)

This morning during some sparrow surveys I found a male Grasshopper
Sparrow singing on a grassland conservation site near Corvallis. He
seemed to have a well-defined territory, flying a circuit of four or
five singing perches.

Access to this site is restricted. However now that this species is
arriving elsewhere in western Oregon, it's worth checking other
traditional sites where this species has been found in the mid-valley
region in past years (particularly Belts Rd. near Brownsville, Ward
Butte near Lebanon, the north prairie at Finley NWR, etc.).

Happy birding,
Joel
