Subject: [nyschp.dop] White Bagging Practices
Dear NYSCHP DOP List-Serv,
White bagging is a process where insurance payers obtain medications, often
through a specialty pharmacy and then ships them to the provider for
administration. A member hospital is interested in current white bagging
practices at other NYS hospitals. Please respond to the following questions:
1. Is any form of white bagging allowed from manufacturer through patient
assistance programs or from specialty pharmacies? We currently do not have any
patients requiring this but in the past have done this for a Tysabri patient.
2. If allowed, do you have a policy on it and would you mind sharing it? We do
not have current policy and would be interested if anyone has one they are
willing to share.
Thank you in advance for your time!
Sincerely,
Leila
