I have never had Joint Commission say anything however the Department of
Health did. The point is any outside boxes can carry in spores. They said
we are supposed to get rid of the outside boxes before they are brought
into the pharmacy.

Hello Fellow Administrators,

Have there been any evidence based trials showing harm
from corrugated Cardboard boxes?

Do the hoops we have to jump through cause more harm than
the benefits of getting rid of the boxes?

What is the science behind the JC’s ridiculous
requirement?!!!

                                Thank You.

Good morning!

How are hospital pharmacies without a receiving area outside the
department managing corrugated boxes in pharmacy and has the Joint
Commission had a concern over this? Corrugated boxes that arrive with
medication in them from the wholesaler or direct shipments from
manufacturers into the pharmacy are the main problem.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Sudha
