Hi Leila,
I am told we only have patients wait 1 hour, but we have not modified our
protocol yet.

Dear colleagues,
Hope you are all doing well. We received a member inquiry related to
handling and administration of barium for outpatient procedures. A member
hospital has not canceled outpatient procedures in light of COVID-19.
Currently, patients are administered barium in their imaging department and
the patient sits in the waiting room for 2 hours prior to their test. The
member would like to know if anyone has waived administration at the
hospital and allowed patients to self-administer the barium at home to
comply with social distancing and avoid crowding in the waiting area? How
are others are handling the medication use process from labeling to
dispensation of contrast media in order to comply with medication
management standards? Thank you in advance for your input.
Sincerely,
Leila
