Tuesday would be fine and I’ll mark it on my calendar. My plan is to first speak a bit about myself and my writing and then give a talk about the Amana Colonies since that’s where my latest series is set. I do have a Power Point presentation that I give with that talk so if I bring my program on a memory stick, would you have the ability to project that onto a wall or screen for me? Do you know if there’s any other library or church group that might want me to speak during the evening? Since I won’t be speaking again until Wednesday evening, I thought there might be an opportunity to use the free time to connect with some other group in the area. ________________________________ From:Melany Wilks [mailto:podaire@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2011 10:25 AM To: jamauthor@xxxxxxx Subject: Speaking engagement for National Library Week in Colby KS - near Norton Dear Judy, The Norton Public Library has arranged with you to speak on Wednesday April 13th in Norton , KS . I had thought that was setting up our date at the same time. However, when talking to you in December that did not happen. Mary & I are good friends and I think she thought I was going to contact you. So, I am wondering if you will speak that the Pioneer Memorial Library in Colby , KS on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Our library regularly hosts a "Booked For Lunch" program (monthly). However during National Library Week we have authors come in and speak such as yourself. We have a nice lunch each day and then an author speaks. Usually an author arrives @ 11:30 am and is done by 1:30 pm. The author normally speaks from about 12:10 nm to 12:50 nm and then has questions until 1:00 pm. Authors are always welcome to sell and sign books as well. We have a lapel microphone for speakers, a hand held, digital projector and wireless access for speakers. I have attached a photo of our meeting room. During National Library Week we plan on anywhere from 48 to 75 persons for lunch. We do not charge but take a donation if patrons want to give one. I anticipate a good number since we have a large Christian community here in the Colby area. Colby is right off highway 70 has lots of great hotels, motels and is only 3 1/2 hours from Denver , and 1 hour from Norton. Would you be willing to come and speak: April 12, 2011: 11:30 -1:30 pm ? Thanks for you consideration.
