[nvda-addons] Re: nvda and live mail

I guess each to their own; I never even used identities in OE and haven't found anything messy using one for all; the account I use most is my default one and if I need to send something from a different one I just set it for the particular message by finding the right one in the "from" field/list of accounts. But I get not everyone always remembers to do that.

With regard to hiding the accounts yyou do not want, it gets very messy and often still sends to the default email even if its not visible in the tree.
The point is that identities was a very nice easy way to keep stuff separate. The current system of a tree view is just messy and easy to mess up.

Oh, I liked having all accounts in one instead of separate inboxes for each so that's no problem; you can always uncheck it in quick views. Interesting I haven't had the problems you're describing at least in the older version in XP, haven't really tried the newer one; only random closing of the program at times after closing or sending a message. But if you prefer Outlook Express, OE 6 works even in latest Windows versions; I use it now in Windows 8.1 with no issues.

Another annoying trait of live mail is that an open message closes most of the time when you want to switch between it and say a word window, so you can paste some info from that message into word, or from an editor into the open new message. It seems to get lost.

I will never understand why they did not simply build on Outlook Express and keep it accessible instead of going off in the two directions of internet mail and news, which does not work in any screenreader, and live mail which mostly does but keyboard operation is a nightmare, and there is that stupid one tree view for all accounts.

To get back from the contact list to the messages try Ctrl+I - go to default inbox.

Hello Brian,
I think we have similar problems with the contacts list, mine has been
imported twice, first from Windows 98 to XP and then to Windows seven.
Although my details are in the correct fields they are mostly out of date,
I too need  an update session.

I don't find there is any time out when typing in names, however, I think it
is a good idea to only type a couple of letters and then tab to another
field followed by shift tabbing back so that NVDA can read it, it doesn't
seem to read out  the prediction as you type.
The other problem I have is that, once I have the contacts list on the
screen using the shortcut key, I can't get rid of it without closing Live
mail.
Perhaps more knowledgable people on the list will have more answers.

Best Regards, Jim.

Yes that is so, but for some reason I often find that I've also
inadvertantly sent it to some other email address as well. Do you know if
there is a timeout for the suggestions that selects one before the one you
are after?
My problem I think is that the whole contacts list is imported from Outlook
Express and hence is a bit of a muddle, with emails in first name slots and
all sorts. The thought of going through the huge list and trying to fix this
is a bit daunting.

Hello Brian,
I think you may have an older version of Live mail, mine has ribbons.
the method that Maartina suggested works though. I agree it's not very
blind friendly when it comes to choosing contacts fromthe the list to
send as e mail if you get to the list using a new message, however,
using Martina's method the contacts can be right clicked with the
context menu key and there is an option in here to send e mail.

Best Regards, Jim.

Can you not just select the contacts from the tools menu and then the
context menu works, well it seems to here.
Although I have followed the methods of actually entering emails to a
forward, I never see this list nor have I ever managed to get it to
not select at least one eemail I don't want along with the ones I do.

It is obviously designed for the sighted very much like google instant is.

Subject: [nvda-addons] nvda and live mail

Hello all,
Can anyone enlighten me as to how I delete a contact in Windows live
mail using NVDA?
I can get to the contacts list by creating a new message and then
choosing "select contacts", if I then focus on a contact and use alt
and E, I can edit the contacts, but there is no delete or remove
option. I can't get a context menu, [right click], anywhere in the
dialogue.

With sighted help I know that the contacts item is at the bottom left
of the screen under the list of folders, but it needs a mouse to get
into this, after that a delete option is possible.
If anyone knows a shortcut to get to this contacts box or knows how
to delete a contact, I would be most grateful for any advice.

Best Regards, Jim.
