Another screen reader has a feature where one can set up different
sounds for headings, fonts, links, or other elements.
This is purely theoretical but how hard would it be to eventually make
it a custom sounds feature, as well as other elements or attributes
identifiable ?
I ask the question because I am no where near a position to even have
scratched the surface of add on development.
I also have been missing that feature since the big move because it was
an invaluable resource for editing complex documents.
So my ears wiggled when I started reading about your add on and the
suggestions coming your way.
At least to me sounds like it would b a huge endebour.

Hi!Well ... I don't see why not. It is more under the relm of unspoken, but I probably could do that anyway.
great addon, I will try it now :)
Now if we could do this for web headings... Wow! :)

Hi,
Now that bug is smashed and smashed for good!
I have released a new version of indentone. It now has the ability to
also play the indent level as a musical note that correlates to the
indent level. Blog about it here. Hopefully I have killed most of the
pesky bugs that this addon created (with a complete redesign).

Hi Derek,--
I like this idea very much, since I’m a musician, I have the
following thoughts about how it might work. But let me say that I am
definitely interested in having it on the usual site, so it can be
used by all. I think something like this is valuable. Here are my
thoughts in no particular order, for what they are worth.
I think it might be hard to judge exactly how far to the right the
sound is playing, so I think I like the idea for extra sensory help,
but I also like the idea of ascending tones, because I have perfect
pitch, I can tell exactly the level of indentation by the musical
note played.
I would like the indentation sound or tone to play along with NVDA
speaking the number of indentation units, so that I can learn to
associate the sounds with their meanings.
I would like the ability to turn speaking of indentation on and off.
I want to also be able to turn sounds for indentation on and off.
I would like to control the turning on and off of indentation
speaking and indentation sound playing independently.
I would like to choose my own sounds.
I would like to choose the indentation unit.
Thanks for considering all of this.

Hi guys,
if you code, you might like this addon. It is experimental and may
still have weird bugs. (When writing it, I accidentally created a
browse mode that only worked with up and down arrow and page keys).
Disclaimer aside, here is what this addon does. When navigating text,
if there is a tab, or four spaces (could make that configurable in
future), a short tone is played in the stereo field at a position
denoting how many tabs exist. For example, if editing code, when
moving into an if statement, the tone you hear will seem to exist
slightly farther right of where it was when you were on the line that
had the if statement. When you leave the if statement, the tone will
move back to the left. I will create a repo if enough people think
it would be useful to add, otherwise, I will just host it. Also, I am
tempted to use a more advanced audio library than nvwave, because it
might be fun to make the tone travel rather than just exist. For
example, the down arrow into the body of an if statement would cause
the tone to start out to your left, and move in more towards the center.
