In my short time in academia, it may be the most positive study pertaining to
African-Americans I have ever read. Let me explain...
Most of us know that there are very real advantages for the tech user. For
example, strategic use of social media can lead to job referrals. A comfort
with technology can allow someone to take online courses and squeeze in those
courses needed to get a BA without having to quit a full time job. Familiarity
with search engines can lead to choice information on government programs or
deals at retail stores. Using dating sites can expand one's dating pool,
potentially increasing the chances of finding a future spouse. All this is to
say that on average, an Internet user is generally better off than a
non-internet user.
