As the chief executive and academic officer for the HU School of Law, the Dean

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), with more than 29,900 members, 
is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 
1975, NSBE now includes more than 394 College, Pre-College, and NSBE

countries around the world, creating a global network of Black engineers,

The Executive Director reports to the National Chairperson and oversees the 
operations of the NSBE World Headquarters. S/he ensures a compelling value 
proposition, fostering member engagement and growth, and executing the 
strategic direction as approved by the Board. The Executive Director is charged 
with maintaining the integrity of the NSBE mission and goals as a 
student-managed organization.

The successful candidate will bring passion for NSBEs mission and will provide 
strong, strategic and collaborative leadership to advance the organization. 
S/he must have a record of increasing responsibility and demonstrated 
professional success in the leadership and management of a wide range of 
complex business operations.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree; 5 to 10 years management experience in three 
or more of the following areas: non-profit operations leadership, higher 
education, information systems, fundraising, publications, public relations, 
government relations, marketing, meeting planning or finance/accounting; 
Advanced knowledge in managing organizing and coordinating operations in a 
multi-unit organization; Appreciates and is able to align position 
responsibilities with NSBEs student- governed leadership structure; Strong 
business acumen and proven management experience including fiscal 
responsibility; Availability to attend meetings and participate in 
teleconferences in the evenings and on weekends; Experience in transitional 
management situations and a variety of negotiations.

Directorate provides research-based national leadership in Science, Technology, 
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning and education.  DUE supports

in responding to faculty complaints and violations of AAUP standards.
  3.  Collaborating with staff colleagues and AAUP leaders and members in

  5.  Representing the Association before other higher ed. organizations, 
college and university bodies, and other unions and professional associations.
  6.  Coordinating with Association leaders and staff on particular projects

within the Association and with local chapters and members to foster chapter 
and conference leadership development and to encourage participation in AAUP 
activities.
  7.  Other duties as assigned.



Preferred Qualifications:



  1.  Ability to analyze complicated cases, and the capacity for handling 
multiple projects.
  2.   Superior written and oral communication skills and computer proficiency 
skills, including familiarity with MS Office suite.
  3.  Experience and demonstrated ability working with professional groups and 
individuals and working cooperatively with staff colleagues and volunteer 
leaders and members, as well as experience dealing with diverse viewpoints and 
personalities.
  4.  Experience with developing trainings and workshops preferred, but not 
required.
  5.  Advanced degree, higher ed. experience, and a working familiarity with 
AAUP principles and standards preferred, but not required.
