holding them for any length of time a real pain, so i don't use them as much I should. Glen's banana lounge idea is OK, but limits you to what patch of sky you can see. Hmmm, clear skies vs rugby. Decisions decisions. Those beer goggles might be needed. You may need them to drown your sorrows when the AB's are flogged. Cheers and good luck for saturday night!! Pardon my appalling ignorance, but, what sort of design is a "parallelogram mount". I don't think I have come across one, do you have any pics? There are lots of designs for lightweight scopes, the problem is building enough strength without excess weight. It makes me wish I had some welding skills, just imagine what you could build with a TIG outfit and basic alloy sections. Beats timber and ply for weight and strength. The 8" is a great little scope with no Argo so it's back to star hoping. Still remember enough no to need any charts but it's a bit rough on the old neck though, part of the reason for getting an Argo in the first place. The only annoying thing is everybody is using the fire places of a night. It has me
thinking of building a collapsible 12" grab and go scope. Finished modifying my parallelogram mount, so now I can send power upthrough it while it can freely rotate. Will give it a whirl over the weekend
Seems I'd had a dew strap go missing through Aussie post so waiting on a replacement, expecting it to arrive today.
