SATURDAY BIRD WALK AT BELLE ISLE
FEBRUARY 23

Are you bored sitting inside
on a winter day? Looking for a wonderful
outdoor activity with your spouse, children or grandchildren in the
winter? Join the Northern Neck Audubon
Society on a bird walk at Belle Isle State Park led by Frank Schaff on
Saturday, February 23. There will be
several loaner binoculars available.
Meet at the horse parking lot at 8:00am.

Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster
County features seven miles of Rappahannock riverfront as well as diverse tidal
and
non-tidal wetlands, lowland marshes, tidal coves and upland forests. Among
possible sightings are diving ducks
(buffleheads, hooded, red-breasted and
common mergansers), loons, geese, swans, double crested cormorants, bald
eagles, great blue herons, belted king fishers, Eastern blue birds, and gulls.

To reach the park from Kilmarnock, take Rt. 3 west to Lively and turn left
on Rt. 201 (White Chapel Road). Go to the end of 201 and turn right onto Rt.
354 (River Road). Go 3.1 miles and turn left on Rt. 683 (Belle Isle Road).
After the park entrance, continue through the four way intersection. The horse
parking lot will be on your right.

From Warsaw, take Rt. 3 east and travel approximately 14.5
miles. Turn right on Rt. 354 (River Road). Go about 3 miles and turn right on
Rt. 683 (Belle Isle Road). After the park entrance, continue through the
four way intersection. The horse parking
lot will be on your right.

Please call Frank Schaff at
804-462-0084 to let him know that you are coming in case the walk is cancelled.
