A service of the Northern Neck Audubon Society--- I visited HP at mid day and had the place to myself. Waterfowl included Canada goose, Tundra and Mute Swan, bufflehead, pintails, gadwalls and green-winged teal. There were herring and ring-billed gulls, a great blue heron, adult bald eagle, belted kingfisher and some Wilson's snipe. Best birds were a couple of marsh wrens in the high marsh. Along the woods trail heading back there were song, swamp and white-throated sparrows, downy, red-bellied and pileated woodpeckers, a hermit thrush, chickadees, a golden-crowned kinglet, and tons of myrtle warblers.
