Excellent creative ideas Jennie, will look forward to discussing these and
others at the meeting.

{margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;}#yiv8390576933 Hello, NJAMC Friends -
It was a sincere joy to see you at the conference. I get strength and love
from spending time with all of you. I appreciate you helping me to discover
and challenge my own biases so that I can grow as a person and counselor.
Thank you for everything you did to make the conference a success!
During the conference, I jotted down some thoughts and ideas about possible
enhancements for future conferences to help us grow our work. I wanted to
share them now in my email so that everyone has time to reflect and consider
these possibilities before our meeting in December.
1. I think we would draw much bigger attendance if we do one of two things:
First, consider aligning ourselves with the spring NJCA conference as a one-day
multicultural institute. ACA does this with themed pre-conference institutes.
I think we may be currently losing potential attendees who have limited CEU
dollars and who choose to attend NJCA instead of NJAMC. We may gain a greater
audience if we align with the NJCA conference this way.
Alternatively, I think our audience would grow if we do keep the fall
conference, but make it a trio conference hosted between us, ASERVIC, and the
creativity in counseling division. Each of our divisions tends to draw a small
and specific audience, compared to, say, the mental health division. If we
three worked together, I think we could be a very unique, interesting, and
powerful conference.
2. Next year we need to make sure that the registration form includes space
for name and address, and it would be helpful to add an email address line and
checkbox if the person wants to be added to the NJAMC listserv.
3. If we keep with a two-day conference format, the registration form should
also be updated to include check boxes to let us know if participants plan to
attend one or both days. I had numerous emails about this.
4. I would like to see our conference flyer and registration forms include
information that breakfast and snacks are provided. This will give
participants a sense of even more value for their money.
5. Could we offer some kind of certificate in multicultural counseling for
completing the conference? People like to take something away from a training
that they can list on their resume.
6. Finally, we need to be careful about future conference dates. I did not
know that there is an annual statewide training conference for all New Jersey
teachers and school counselors every fall. Our conference fell during the same
dates. Several school counselors emailed me that they could not attend NJAMC
because of the date issue. We can try to avoid the overlap in the future.
Looking forward to seeing you on December 3!
Respectfully,Jennie
