(Apologies if this comes through twice - freelists.org is being wonky...)
FYI, sent this out to parents today:
Hi Robotics parents!
In brief:
*weekly schedule is changing in 2017
*meeting schedule is posted on Schoology
*Come to parent meeting/kickoff breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 7!
Details below...
A few notes on upcoming schedule:
1) We will not be meeting Thursday Dec. 15 or Monday Dec. 19 due to exams.
So, only two more meetings this calendar year (12/8 & 12/12).
2) In the new year, we will change to the build season schedule. This year,
that includes dropping Monday meetings and starting Tuesday meetings. We will
meet regularly Tues/Thu 4 PM to 6 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM, plus extra days
as noted on the schoology calendar.
3) If you (or your student) logs in to schoology on a computer, you will find
an "upcoming" column to the right listing future events. If you click the
calendar icon, you get a calendar view of future robotics meeting dates and
times. I work hard to keep this as up-to-date as possible.
4) please send me a note (physical or email) if your student is getting winter
team credit but is unable to make a meeting due to illness or other special
circumstance. Thanks!
5) This year's kickoff is Saturday, Jan. 7. We will hold a parent meeting/team
breakfast at 9 AM, followed by a viewing of the new game release video and day
of strategizing. In the parent meeting, we will give you an overview of the
season and a sense of what this endeavor is all about, plus talk about a few
ways you can help. PLEASE consider staying for as much of the rest of the day
as you like, including at least the kickoff video (which will run from ~10:30
AM to 11:15 AM). We spend the rest of the day poring over rules, learning how
to play the game and how to score points, culminating with a live simulation of
the game in the gym.
6) if you have any free time (ha ha) (Tues/thu 4-6 PM, Saturday 9-5) in the new
year and would like to work with the team, please keep your eye out for
upcoming information about mentoring opportunities. It is almost certain that
you have skills the team would benefit from!
Thanks for all your support for this growing team.
Regards,
Phil Coburn (team coordinator)
