Possible Password Flaw Found in Windows XP
A flaw has been found in Windows XP, allowing an attacker with physical
access to a machine to bypass password protections. An adversary can use a
Windows 2000 CD to boot a Windows XP machine, and use the Windows 2000
Recovery console to gain Administrator privileges. This highlights the
consensus among security professionals that once a machine has been
physically accessed, security is compromised.
