Battlefield commanders usually cannot get actionable information from captured computers since they must be sent to a remote computer forensics lab, taking days for results. The new system, Forward-Area Portable Forensics System, will run Linux, and could extract intelligence information on the spot. Ideal Technology will work with the Army's Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J. If the contract is renew for a second phase, it could grow to $750,000. http://www.gcn.com/vol1_no1/daily-updates/21640-1.html ************************************************************************** Educational CyberPlayGround links to Technology <http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Technology/Home_TECHNOLOGY.html> Find Information on Security for Teachers, Administrators, Ed.
