Applications are available at https://apply.embark.com/foundation/Hispanic Application Deadline is April 15, 2003 The Hispanic College Fund was founded in 1993 by a group of Hispanic leaders who wanted to create a lasting legacy of leadership by providing scholarship support to Hispanic students. The scholarship awards range from $500 to $5,000. The average award is approximately $3,000 and is restricted to the payment of tuition and fees and educational expenses. HCF plans to award $1.5 million in scholarships this academic year! Please read the following information carefully. If you have any questions, please call 1-800-644-4223 or visit our website at http://www.hispanicfund.org ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR FIRST IN MY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Must be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic background residing in the fifty states or Puerto Rico. - Must be starting as a college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior by Fall 2003. - Must plan to enroll as a Full-Time Undergraduate student (minimum 12 credits per semester) from the fall of 2003 through the spring of 2004. - Must be applying to or be enrolled in a college or university in the fifty states or Puerto Rico. - Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale Students who apply to All Scholarship Programs, and who meet the eligibility criteria for the First in My Family Scholarship Program, Denny's/HCF Scholarship, H.I.S. Scholars Program, or Allfirst/HCF Scholarship Program, will automatically be considered for these scholarship programs. To see information about these programs eligibility criteria please visit http://www.hispanicfund.org ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Must be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic background residing in the fifty states or Puerto Rico. - Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering or business-related major. - Must be starting as a college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior by Fall 2003. - Must plan to enroll as a Full-Time Undergraduate student from the fall of 2003 through the spring of 2004. - Must be applying to or be enrolled in a college or university in the fifty states or Puerto Rico. - Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NATIONAL HISPANIC EXPLORERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Must be a U.S. citizen of Hispanic background residing in the fifty states or Puerto Rico. - Must be pursuing a science, pre-med, computer science, engineering or NASA-related major. - Must be starting as a college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior by Fall 2003. - Must plan to enroll as a Full-Time Undergraduate student (minimum 12 credits per semester) from the fall of 2003 through the spring of 2004. - Must be applying to or be enrolled in a college or university in the fifty states or Puerto Rico. - Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale APPLICATION PROCEDURES Deadline: April 15, 2003 The Hispanic College Fund evaluates all applications that are received by the deadline. Applications may be postmarked April 15, 2003. The applications are reviewed for completeness and then evaluated for eligibility. Selection is determined by the Hispanic College Fund Scholarship Selection Committee and is based on the applicant's academic performance and demonstrated financial need. Notification of Award After July 15, 2003 All applicants who meet the deadline will receive written notification of their award status by no earlier than July 15. Award status will not be given over the phone Scholarship Distribution After September 15, 2003 Scholarship winners will be asked to submit additional information to verify enrollment. The scholarship checks will be made out and mailed directly to the college or university's financial aid office, on behalf of the student.
