I'm posting this in behalf of Leni Donlan.
What loaded topics War and Peace are...and how critical it is that we
build citizens who understand cause, effect, implications,
ramifications, cultural issues, economic issues, political issues, and
geographic factors involved in war and peace.
On Thursday, May 15 at 8:00 P.M. (EDT), join Library of Congress staff
members and your peers in the After School Online Classroom,
http://tappedin.org/ for the Learning Page chat on "War and Peace."
Joining us is a very special guest, retired U.S. Army Captain, John
Fitzgerald, who served in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader. Wounded
in action, he was awarded
the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star for Valor, the Combat Infantry Badge
and the National Defense Medal. John has been teaching American history
and social studies since 1971 and is a three time recipient of National
Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn of primary source materials from
the Library of Congress to help teach about American wars of the past.
Participate in a discussion about ways we can help our students develop
an understanding of the state of the world today, and their
responsibility as citizens to shape a lasting global peace.
