Author Joy Hakim, whose work, "Freedom: A History of US" is currently
the focus of a PBS series, will be featured in a special Social Studies
forum, set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern (4:30 p.m. Pacific) time February 26,
in TAPPED IN (http://www.tappedin.org).  Joy will be just one of several
persons involved in "Freedom" who will be available to answer teachers'
questions about the book, series, and available resources.

Along with Joy will be, Philip Kunhardt, series producer,  Dyllan McGee,
senior producer for Kunhardt Productions, and Annalisa Loeffler, deputy
director of outreach for WNET will be on hand to discuss the series and
available online resources for teachers.

The PBS series utilizes some of the greatest Hollywood starts voicing
history Americans, including Tom Hanks as Abraham Lincoln, Morgan
Freeman as Thurgood Marshall, Kevin Kline as Thomas Jefferson, Michael
Douglas as Benjamin Franklin, Meryl Streep as Mother Jones, Paul Newman
as Woodrow Wilson, and Susan Sarandon as Susan B. Anthony.  Actor
Christopher Reeve was creative consultant for the series.

Please note that this Social Studies forum session begins at an earlier
time to accommodate the large number of teachers expected.  A
preliminary session will be held in which TAPPED IN help desk staff will
discuss proper procedure for asking Joy and other guests questions, as
well as assisting new users.  Anyone attending this session is strongly
encouraged to log in at least 10 minutes prior to the start time to be
guided to the session area.
