the Teaching American History Grant which was released last week.

The U.S. Office of Education Teaching American History Grant Program
2003 supports programs to raise student achievement by improving
teachers' knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of American
history. Congress has appropriated $99,350,000 for this grant program
in 2003.
The 2003 TAH application package was published in the Federal
Register on May 6. Applications will be due July 7 (this is a postmark
date). To access the Federal Register online, go to URL
http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/index.html.
As an available component for this grant, Learners Online has
developed a tool called Web Web Web WebLessons Professional Development
Series Lessons Professional Development Series Lessons Professional
Development Series Lessons Professional Development Series,
developed specifically for the TAH grant. The series helps teachers and
students explore standards based history topics through analysis of primary
and secondary source documents available online. All Learners Online
materials and training are aligned to state assessment objectives for
American history. The series is available for grades 5, 8, 11.
