Hello S3 Schools,

Cyber Space Day Webcast.

Here are a couple cool, space-related online activities in which you and
your students can participate.

Space Day stars Anna-Maria McGowan and Anne Breaks will be doing an online
chat on WashingtonPost.com on Wednesday, April 30, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
ET. Then, Anna-Maria McGowan is scheduled to do an online chat on
USAToday.com on Thursday, May 1, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET.

Some quick Anne/Anna-Marie star scoop:

Eighteen-year old Anne Breaks of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has wanted to be
an astronaut since she was eight years old. One of Canada's representatives
at the International Space School in 2001, her introduction as a teen
spokesperson for Space Day 2003 was slated for February 1, the day the
Columbia disintegrated. Her heartfelt comments that day as she vowed to
continue the mission of those heroic astronauts were carried nationwide
across Canada. She is currently featured in the May issue of Teen People.

Anna-Maria Rivas McGowan, Program Manager for NASA's Morphing Program at
Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, is a young engineer who directs
more than 65 researchers working on cutting-edge technologies, materials,
and designs for air vehicles of the future. Ms. McGowan is a
first-generation American born to parents from Trinidad and Tobago, and she
has been fascinated by airplanes since the age of 12. She will talk about
incredible Morphing Program discoveries and the pressing need for young
engineers and scientists to continue advancing this work.

These are both excellent online computer use opportunities for your
students to teach them about distance IT communications and the space program!

April
