Calling classes from all 50 U.S. states to participate in the 2004 National CyberConvention! Each participating class will study the candidates, issues and polling trends in their state for the 2004 presidential and congressional races, using print, broadcast and Web-based media. Each week your class will be emailed a topic to research; topics covered will include candidates, issues and media literacy. You will submit your weekly findings to the National CyberConvention website, sharing the concerns and likely voting patterns of your home state. Data will be posted on our site to allow classes to analyze trends state by state and nationally. As a culminating event, each class will cast their delegate votes online a week prior to the national elections predicting the outcome of the vote on election day! Project Objectives: To study the democratic electoral process in action To use regional media to follow current events To develop media literacy skills in evaluating information To analyze polling numbers to determine patterns and predict trends in voting To participate in a real-time event both online and off Timeline: May 1 - August 28, 2004 Register for the Project Week of September 7, 2004 Rollcall of States from across the Nation Week of September 14, 2004 Topic: Presidential Candidates Week of September 21, 2004 Topic: Presidential and Senatorial Candidates Week of September 28, 2004 Topic: Congressional Candidates Week of October 5, 2004 Topic: Media Literacy Week of October 12, 2004 Topic: Defense Week of October 19, 2004 Topic: Economy Week of October 26, 2004 National CyberConvention Vote Week of November 2, 2004 View National Election Results Week of November 9, 2004 Compare National Election Results with Our Predictions Week of November 16, 2004 Archive the National CyberConvention results online Registration: Register online at http://surfaquarium.com/NCC/register.htm Walter McKenzie, Project Sponsor The One and Only Surfaquarium walter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://surfaquarium.com To Post a message, send it to: innovative-teachers@xxxxxxxxxxx <*> To visit your group on the web, go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Innovative-Teachers/ <>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<> EDUCATIONAL CYBERPLAYGROUND http://www.edu-cyberpg.com Net Happenings, K12 Newsletters, Network Newsletters http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Community/index.html FREE EDUCATION VENDOR DIRECTORY LISTING http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Directory/default.asp HOT LIST OF SCHOOLS ONLINE http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Schools/default.asp Educational CyberPlayGround Services http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/PS/Home_Products.html <>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>~~~~~<>
