I think this is one of the clearest
statements I've seen about what needs to be done to ensure quality
education for all African-American children.
Gloria Ladson-Billings is a professor in the Department of Curriculum &
Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Senior Fellow in
Urban Education of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown
University. Her research focuses on successful teaching of African-American
children and critical race theory.
She is the author of the critically acclaimed book, The Dreamkeepers:
Successful Teachers of African-American Children and numerous journal
articles and book chapters.
She is the current editor of the Teaching, Learning, & Human Development
Section of the American Educational Research Journal.
It comes from Gloria
Ladson-Billings, whom I find most helpful for effective strategies
for classroom teachers to use in educating AA children.
