Poisoned by Burning Trash
The Washington Post in an article
authored by Maria Gold has the
described the medical plight of
returning soldiers from Iraq and
Afganistan, after having been
poisoned by burning trash.
The ill solders were exposed to fumes and
smoke from burn pits that were
constructed by independent
contractors to the military.
The article describes a variety of
serious medical aliments including
respiratory conditions involving a
chronic cough, and 6 deaths due to
leukemia and 5 more that are reportedly
under treatment for the same cancer.
A Federal lawsuit is now pending on
behalf of the soldiers and independent
contractors who have been exposed.
A decision on pending determinative
motions is anticipated shortly.
