Academic Journal Improvement and Quality Issues
There are several factors that are very important in the evaluation of the
quality of academic journals sponsored or published at colleges or
universities. These factors are also important considerations in
efforts to improve them.
The importance and academic standing of the college or university at which
the journal is produced or edited.
The ability to attract high profile or academically important authors
whose writing will be sought after.
The attention articles published in a journal receive from other writers
and especially the use of these articles as cited references in the works
of other writers.
The ability of a journal to publish articles about topics and issues that
are very important and of high interest to academicians in the subject
areas the journal covers.
With these thoughts, these are some selected publications that discuss
academic journals.
Journals are much more visible if indexed, abstracted and carried full
text in databases and journal aggregation services, the more indexing
tools covering a journal and the more important these indexes, the more
findable the content of highly indexed titles to scholars and researchers.
It is critically important to have a pricing, marketing, online access and
distribution model that assures financial success and sustainability.
