Since Donald Trump seems to enjoy conspiracy theories so much, Samantha
Bee is spreading her own one about the GOP nominee.
The Full Frontal host used her new People Are Saying segment to allege
that hes illiterate? referencing the phrase Trump often uses before
launching into his latest wild unsubstantiated claim.
After seeing how easy and fun it is to take random scraps of evidence and
spin them into ridiculous conspiracy theories, we decided to try it

In a US political climate filled with conspiracy theorieswhether about

On her TBS show Full Frontal, for a new segment called People are Saying,
Bee perfectly parodies the creation of a conspiracy theory. Its an
excellent display of how, if looking for evidence of something sinister,
ones bound to find it.

Since Donald Trump and his minions love conspiracy theories so much,
Samantha Bee decided to see what it was like to spread one of her own
Monday night. And it already has its own hashtag: #TrumpCantRead.

As the Full Frontal host said in a segment that premiered on Facebook
Live, Bee began by reviewing tape of a recently unsealed deposition in
which Trump was repeatedly asked to read from legal documents and refused,
first saying he didnt have his glasses and then using the excuse that hes
not a lawyer. Objection! Bee said. How can you expect someone who isnt a
fancy-pants lawyer to read words?

At first, I thought Trump was lying, but then it hit me, Bee said. You
heard it here first: People are saying Donald Trump cant read. Over the
next six minutes, she meticulously laid out the evidence, including the
fact that the only book title Trump can recall when people ask him what
hes read recently is All Quiet on the Western Front and his unnerving
practice of shouting things he wants to tweet at his staffers during the
day. Even his signature is suspiciously missing recognizable letters.

Bee assured her viewers that shes not definitively saying that Trump cant
read, but instead is just asking the question, as Trump did for more than
five years when it came to President Obamas birthplace.

There's a new rumor about a presidential candidate that's just appalling.
And it was addressed by none other than "Full Frontal" host Samantha Bee
on Monday night.
.
"After seeing how easy it is to take random scraps of evidence and turn
them into ridiculous conspiracy theories, we decided to try it ourselves
because why the f*ck not?" Bee opened.
.
While watching an hour and a half of Donald Trump's deposition in one of
the many lawsuits filed against him, the host came to a stunning
conclusion.
.
"I noticed a pattern," Bee told the audience before playing a clip of the
GOP candidate in a taped deposition.
.
"You did not review this section," Trump was told.
.
"I did not, no. Did you want me to read it. It's very long. I didn't bring
my glasses," the nominee insisted.
.
"Would you be able to read this section?" he was asked.
.
"Mr. Trump isn't a lawyer," Trump's lawyer shot back, seeing his client
stumbling.

"Objection!" Bee exclaimed. "At first I thought Trump was lying. But then
it hit me, thanks to the time I've wasted watching very special episodes
of TV shows [aimed at 80s and 90s teens, such as 'The Facts of Life,' 'My
So-Called Life' and 'Mr. Belvedere.']."

Throughout the election, Trump has repeatedly flirted with unproven or
fringe political arguments, while offering blasexplanations whenever
anyone calls him out for using them. As such, Bee decided to play Trumps
game on Monday by making the completely legitimate case that the 2016
Republican candidate is actually illiterate.

To back up her theory, Bee turned to a deposition video where Trump
refused to read legal documents, as well as several instances where Trump
showed a disinclination for looking at books or scripts. Bee also wondered
if Trumps illiteracy might be the real reason why he rails against
teleprompters so much.

Of course, Bee told her viewers that she was only asking the question,
about Trumps reading ability, not necessarily saying its a definite fact.
To give Trump a chance to prove her wrong, Bee offered him a challenge:

Forget Samantha Bee's kind of disappointing Halloween interview with
President Barack Obama. It was fine, but if you want to see how Bee is
really crushing it in politics this week, check out her hilarious
conspiracy theory that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump can't
read.

While our initial reaction may be to laugh this off as just another
political burn on a late-night comedy news show, we have to admit: Bee has
some compelling evidence. Sure, it's easy to collect assorted clips of a
person and manipulate an audience into seeing what you want them to see
in this case, that Donald Trump is illiterate. But it would just explain
so much about him, you know?
.
Like his weird loathing of teleprompters. What's up with that? One of
Trump's earlier campaign promises was, for some reason, to ban the use of
teleprompters for future candidates. Wouldn't it just make sense that he
hates them because he can't read?
.
Among other evidence is a writer from Saturday Night Live, who dishes on
one of Trump's appearances on the show, and flat-out tells us that you
guessed it the candidate literally could not read the script. Then
there's the fact that Donald Trump can't name a single book he's read in
recent memory. And clips from his depositions that show him admitting he
doesn't read leases or business documents.

Samantha Bee hasn't been shy about who she's rooting for this election.
And it's not Donald Trump.

The latest example is a segment called "People Are Saying..." that showed
up on the "Full Frontal" Facebook page Monday, in which Bee makes the case
that Trump can't read.

Bee says in the segment that it first dawned on her while watching a
deposition Trump gave in June that was made public in September.
.
In one part of the taped deposition, Trump refused to read from a legal
document because he said he didn't bring his glasses. Then his lawyer
stepped in and said Trump didn't have to read it because he's not a
lawyer.

"At first, I thought Trump was lying, but then it hit me," Bee said. "You
heard it here first: People are saying Donald Trump can't read."

The segment continues with numerous examples of Trump's disinterest in
reading, including him saying that he doesn't actually write his tweets
and instead tells his staff things to tweet; past accusations that he
hasn't read a book in 20 years; and "Saturday Night Live" cast member Pete
Davidson telling the "Opie Radio" XM station that Trump refused to read
the scripts given to him when he was a guest host.
