SLauren and I have decided we need an Executives Committee so we can move
smoothly, and there will be ongoing information and help for anyone who needs
it.
We decided to start this Campaign when we realised what was happening with the
Government as the NDIS was taking off, the people 65 and over were losing their
Disability benefits in my case it was mainly Home Modifications as I could not
access my kitchen for even simple things such as getting a pot or a plate from
a cupboard, then it took about 3 years to get a Quote from My Age Care which
was outrageous Twenty six thousand dollars of which the Gov would only pay Ten
the rest I would have to pay in cash. No modification to their plan was
acceptable. Many others had worse problems than I did.
Just a small Bio on myself
I am blind and have Parkinsons Disease and other muscular related problems. I
also have Thyroid Disease.
I am confined to a wheelchair and get around quite comfortably with a white
cane and my husband Brendan.
We lived in Rural New South Wales where we raised four daughters and 3 holiday
foster boys.
During that time I worked teaching Nutrition, Then for Royal Blind Society as
their Communications Officer. Guide Dogs as a Speaker.
I have been a Director for Blind Citizens Australia
Member of Disability Council of NSW
Member of the Ministerial Reference Group (leading into the NDIS)
Ambassador for Living Life My Way
