I have posted about issues I faced when an application called Amazon
Assistant downloaded to my computer, bundled in a JAVA download from
Oracle, which I needed to install to enable the Access Bridge to another
application I needed to participate in a webinar. Amazon Assistant is what
I can only describe as a very annoying application that is not very
keyboard friendly and hovers in the background when you are browsing to
supposedly assist with price comparison and whatnot. I had no use for it
whatsoever but could not get rid of the application by the usual way. No
matter how many times I removed it from the programs and features list
under control panel in Windows 7, it would return as soon as I rebooted the
computer . Bert sent me the below link which proved to be a big help, so do
take note of it everyone, especially if you do not have Windows 10 on your
computer:

When I could not remove the program, I had suspected I would need to edit
the registry, but was not game to venture there. Bert's link confirmed what
I suspected and gave a list of steps to edit the registry, but I asked
for help from a friend to do this. She came yesterday and had to go back
into the registry 2 or 3 times to remove it completely, because the pesky
application came back after the first time she deleted it. It is that
persistent.
Michael who emailed me off list, hope the above notes will help you, but
best to get sighted help to follow the tips at Bert's link above
Anyone else, if you need to download Java from Oracle, look for a checkbox
that relates to Amazon Assistant, and,unless you think this application
will be useful to you, make sure you untick that checkbox.
Another application that seemed to have been bundled in the download or
that snuck in to my computer around the same time was one called Raven,
which I found out was adware. Sam Taylor suggested I use a program called
Hitman Pro (not the "alert" edition), and that seemed to have got rid of
Raven.
So thanks to Bert, Sam and my friend, I am more or less back on track. But
even after uninstalling Java and getting rid of Amazon Assistant and
Raven,I continue to experience some issues with some keyboard shortcuts
that no longer work since that day I downloaded Oracle's Java 12 days ago.
Sam, I will email you about that, and see if you can help.

Hello Gisele,
Below seems to be a number of methods, but not sure of your confidence
about trying them.
You may like to ask some one who is a little more qualified or, capable,
with some of these methods.

A few days ago I posted to list the below query about an application
called "Raven" which appeared to have downloaded to my computer. So after
doing some research, it is likely that this is an adware application. It is
also likely to have downloaded when I installed a Java application from
Oracle 10 days ago, so I could participate in a webinar and use the
associated applications for that. One of the other applications that
downloaded when I downloaded Java was one called Amazon Consultant. it is
extremely annoying and attaches to your browser, and even when you
uninstall it from programs under control panel, it just returns when you
reboot the computer. I have uninstalled it again and again and again and it
says it's been removed, then it comes back. As for the raven application,
it brings up a pop up each time it comes across certain words when you are
typing an email or browsing. JAWS does not pick up what ever ad it is
generating, so all you hear is "raven" and JAWS stops talking. Oracle is
widely used by people who use screen readers and other access products,
so I thought I would put this alert on list I do not know what I can do to
fix these issues, and others that have cropped up since downloading Java

For some days now when I am using Outlook, I Hear JAWS say "raven" and I
lose focus from the message window when I am typing a message. It appears
that a pop-up message comes up with that word "raven". I have Googled for
information about this and it appears to be an app of some sort, but I did
not download it (unless it downloaded with some other application). It's
quite annoying. Any clues? I am using a desktop computer, Win 7, JAWS 18
and Outlook 2003.
