Hi Ann,

I've replied to the Making Windows Easy list so you have the list address again.

Ok, there's a couple of parts to your question. Firstly (for anyone else who isn't sure what NVDA is), Ann is using NVDA, which is a free screen reader. In Making Windows 10 Easy to See, we cover a bit using Narrator which is built in to Windows. NVDA is like a more advanced version of Narrator with more features.

Now firstly to the different cursor types Ann mentioned:

- The active cursor, is what we usually call the system focus. So for instance in a document you are typing, when you press a letter, that is placed where the system focus is. Visually where the flashing upright caret is.
- The review cursor is a feature of NVDA where you can read ahead or back in a document, without moving the caret. So for instance if you are typing, and want to check what you wrote last paragraph, instead of moving back up with the arrow keys or control+up arrow where you'd then have to find your place again to keep typing, moving the review cursor, lets you read that previous piece of text then jump back to where you are typing.

NVDA+NumPadMinus is what you can use to jump to the item which has focus, and move the review cursor there as well.

To move the focus to the review cursor instead (which is what Ann wanted to do in her question), it's NVDA+shift+NumPadMinus (the NVDA key by default is Insert but you can set it to be Caps Lock on a laptop).

Finally, if you are correcting errors in Word, you can use ALT+F7 to jump straight to the next misspelt word.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Sorry, I lost the list address. So I'm back to you.
Using the numbpad keys in NVDA to follow the text, how do I bring
the active cursor to the review cursor in order to correct
mistakes?? I have read through most of the NVDA documentation and
haven't found the magic keystroke.
With the review cursor I found 'dfigure' and wanted 'figure', but
short of going to the beginning of the line wwith home and arrowing
to the mistake, I couldn't correct it. The review cursor was on the
'D' and the active (whatever you call it in NVDA) was a couple of
lines away.
thanks a lot,

Ann
