You should have a tiny Canadian flag, or perhaps a U.S. one, showing near the
right-hand end of your main menu bar, Theresa. The drop-down menu you're
looking for comes from there. If there's no such flag showing, go to System
Preferences and click on International. Under Input Menu, you'll find two
panels, one above the other. In the top one will be check boxes for Character
Palette and Keyboard Viewer. Check both of those. In the bottom section, you'll
find choices for the various international keyboard and character settings
available. The default setting, naturally, is U.S. set. Scroll down to check
Canadian and any others you may want — French, French-Canadian, whatever. When
you leave System Preferences, you should see the flag logo up there in the main
menu bar. Clicking on it will let you toggle between whichever languages you've
chosen, and also let you display the character and keyboard layouts for them.
