If you want GPS features, wait for the 3G model with a GPS chip. WiFi
is not accurate. As far as applications go, if you need voice
directions, expect to pay $75+ for the app. If you can do without,
look at MotionX-GPS. It's only $2.99, and although geared for
aviation(has all of the features of $5,000 units), can be used for
hiking, boating, hunting, etc. Choice of street maps or terrain. This
app works well on iPhone 3G and adds an accurate compass.
