In this case it would have to be the people on the other end doing that in
their own mail programs, and I wouldn’t bet on that happening in a company
where all foreign email is first routed by default to the junk folder.

now gmail is being routed through the U.S. before it comes back to the
destination.

One business I deal with sends everything to the spam if it comes from
another country so my mail is delayed for at least a day before the
recipient sees it.
