[muglo] [OT} DVD Recording

I have just seen an advert for a DVD Recorder for $200 after rebate!  
This seems low as I thought that they were nearer to $500?   What 
significance is there in DVD+R/RW-  and DVD+RW/-RW/-R and possibly 
others? Are they interchangeable?
I  am considering purchasing such a unit and would like some info on 
this matter.  Thanks.
