"The only thing to fear is fear itself" :) Not that my words are any more important than anyone else's, but I wasn't sure at first that anyone had even seen my posts about updating to 10.5.6 because several people reiterated what I had already suggested. Perhaps they did it in a less panic-inspiring way? ;) Anywho, Jim asked whether to download the 10.5.6 update or not, and it was certainly not my intention to scare anyone with my post, merely to inform. By knowing some of the gotchas that other people are experiencing you can make a more informed decision on whether to update or not, and avoid problems when you eventually do decide to update. The steps I outlined might make it sound complicated or PC- like, but it's really pretty straight-forward. And as Doug mentioned, many of the problems people have with OS updates are caused by third- party software and third-party devices simply because Apple didn't make them and therefor can't control compatibility. So, my apologies if I created any undue stress, and no need to "switch" just yet. Besides, you wouldn't want this to happen to your Christmas tree, would you? http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/apple/getamac/apple_getamac_tree-trimming_20081215_480x272.mov Andy ------- www.rainycitynights.com --- MUGLO information at <http://www.freewebs.com/muglo> Manage your account options at <//www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi>
