Unfortunately, that's how you have to do it to "cut out" the smaller part you want. However, you may be making the job harder if you're not familiar with how the Selection tool works within graphics programs. Say you dump the shot into Paint. Notice the two types of "Selection" tools. They look like a dotted square for the square selection tool and a start (or something similar in other programs) for the freehand selection tool. After dumping the shot in Paint, the picture will still be selected. I click the star tool and then go back and reselect the square selection tool to take the focus off the image dump. Then rather than cutting away what you don't want, just cut out what you do want. Click and drag around the icon or toolbar. Then hit Ctrl/C to copy the image and Ctrl/V to paste it back. In my usual program, Paint Shop Pro, this method will paste the image into a new frame. In Paint, it just dumps the image right back in the upper corner of the current image. To make the view easier to see, you can quickly click File/New and dump the shot and then hit Ctrl/V to paste the tiny new image onto a clean page. In Paint, keep the image sized as is and keep it selected. Then click Edit/CopyTo to save just the selected item out as a small image. If you click File/Save or Save As, it'll save the entire canvas, white space and all. But if you use the Edit/CopyTo method, only the selected item is saved out. Yeah, it would be faster to just select the item off the original shot and go right to Edit/CopyTo to save off the selected item, but since I use many graphics programs and they all work in different way, I use this same method to ensure I get it right in all apps. Plus you may need to see it cleanly to make any drawing or text modifications before you select it again to save out. This way you have a clean canvas in which to work. Hope that helps! However, to get the toolbars and/or the small icon, I had to use Alt-PrnScrn, then paste into a draw program such as Paint or Photoshop, then erase and/or trim the unwanted part. This is proving to be very cumbersome plus hard to control the size and resolution. Does anyone know how to copy and paste toolbars and/or icons into WORD documents Thanks a million Peter ************************************************************* PLEASE READ!!!!
