If I understand you correctly, you are saying that you want a divided header/footer? And you're using columns? That's a more difficult way to do it. Use a table in the header/footer to set the individual alignment. Turn off the table border and no one will know it's a table. Then just align the item within the cell, using Ctrl + L for left, Ctrl + E for Center or Ctrl + R for right. Although you SHOULD be able to align items in columns, but depending on your style being used and how you set the paragraphs, it may be causing conflicts. Whereas a table and it's cells are totally independent, so you can more easily set the individual alignment to have some info along the left, some centered and some along the right.
