Well, you can work around it by creating a customized email that would
auto respond in a similar way. Granted, you can't use the out of office
assistant, but it works *about* the same way.
And as luck would have it <smirk, no, we didn't plan this folks>, Linda
wrote an article for the December TechTrax (Dec issue out in a
day/two... See www.mousetrax.com/techtrax to access it and/or subscribe)
called "Make an Out of Office AutoResponder, using Outlook *Without*
Exchange" where she explains the steps to do it.

I wrote back a couple a months ago asking for help in setting up "out of
office assistant" Using Office 2000 and WITHOUT exchange server.
Just to clarify, because I am NOT able to get the "out of office
assistant."
If I do not have exhange server, then I CAN'T use out of assistant? I
set up corporate version, but it sure isn't there.
