Thanks to both Dian and Robert. Your suggestions
were very appropriate and I thought surely they
were the answer.

I went to the KB Q2204059 re error message:

"The disk is full. Free some space on this
drive, or save the document to another drive.

Try one of the following;
Close any unneeded documents, programs, and
windows.
Save the document to another disk."

Tried its suggestion about clearing temp files.
I was suprised. I had over 190 files in my
Windows Temp Internet folder. I hadn't checked
this lately--been running History Kill that is
supposed to purge temporary and cookie files.
Some reason it's not working. Anyway followed the
KB suggestions for clearing Temp files and ran
scan disk and defrag. NO HELP.

Robert's suggestion about a corrupted file is
probably the closest. I tried copying the file
to another location, then deleting original. No
help either. Neither the copy nor the restored
file made any differences.

I give up. Will try to rebuild the file, piece
by piece. Maybe I will find the corrupted
portion.

Thanks again for your expert help. It's been
informative.

Pete
