Depending on what other animations you have going on (if any):
If I have no other animations I will create identical slides - with the new
words to be faded - placed (see below for more on this) in the same
identical spot. I then add a fade smoothly transition for the page. This is
easiest for organization's sake.
If I have other animations or want to limit it to 1 slide, I will add each
item to the same slide, but no line them up at all. I add all custom
animations (entrance fade, exit fade, tying the end of each animation with
the beginning of the next), and THEN line up the graphics on top of each
other (again, look below for the best way imho to do that). I would make
sure I go to TOOLS|Customize, and drag "Select Multiple Objects" from
drawing onto one of my toolbars - this is invaluable in selecting text on
back layers).
**To make sure you get objects placed EXACTLY on top of each other on
slides, visit http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/ where there is a free set of
tools (PPTools Starter Set), with two tools for memorizing an object's
position and then you can hammer anything you want to that EXACT position
(on the same slide, or slide to slide). I guarantee if you do this type of
work with any regularity, you WILL WANT THESE FREE TOOLS. I don't know what
I'd do without them.
