Nope, sorry. Once you have set the hyperlink on text, the underline can't be
removed. But, if you feel strongly enough that Microsoft should change this
and have a business reason that you can document to them in your own words,
send it in to MS Wish (As John L says so often...). You can now add wishes
via the web at URL:

Subject: [mso] PowerPoint Hyperlink Attributes

I am working on a PowerPoint presentation (PPT 2003), and am hoping to have
hyperlinked text, but without the underline attribute. I have figured out
how to change the hyperlink text color and visited link color, but can't
figure out how to get rid of the pesky underline.

My solution thus far has been to fake it by putting an invisible action
button over the word with the hyperlink there.

Is there an easier way?

Scot
