[mso] Office XP

Quick question, I am looking to upgrade from Office 2000 to Office XP.
My daughter was given a Student Version of Office XP as a gift.
Is there any difference in the student version?

Also, has anyone upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP without unistalling
first?
Would anyone care to give a recommendation?
