You can't use OL as a newsreader cos' it doesn't have the capabilities. OE
*is* the Microsoft newsreader...so you HAVE to use it if you want to use an
MS app and access newsgroups. Just turn off the email account (or don't ever
add one) and use OE for newsgroups only! I do that when OE is all I have
around.
However, you can also use Netscape, which has built in NG (newsgroup)
capabilities. That's why OE is part of Internet Explorer...cos' it's the
newsreader for IE, whereas Netscape has it's newsreader within it's browser.
But the best thing to do is to go to the web and download Free Agent...or
toss our a few bucks and upgrade it to Agent. It's a much better newsreader
and better for monitoring NGs.

Subject: [mso] Newsgroups and Outlook
I am just working on getting involved in some newsgroups, and am having a
hard time figuring out how to do this with Outlook (2003) . . . all the help
literature points me to OE, which I don't want to use . . . I want to be
able to check all my e-mail/newsgroup information through outlook.
Anyone have any idea what I'm asking, or have I confused you as much as I am
confusing myself??
