Just search your hard drive for outlook.pst and make a copy of it and put it
in another location, just to be sure it isn't removed when you uninstall
Office  (however, if you choose to just upgrade Office, this won't be
necessary)

Then when you install Office XP, the first time you open Outlook, it will
ask you if you have a pst you want to use or do you want to create a new
one...just tell it to use either the old one (if it's still there) or the
one you copied.

For someone as opinionated as yourself,this reply does seem a tad wishy 
washy,but us list members know the truth,we've seen you deal with OT 
issuesLOL! I use Outlook more now,so how would I associate the dreaded pst 
file with the new upgraded Office? TIA
