>And yes I get offended when someone
labels computer users, he mentioned 'ordinary user' If an 'ordinary user'
has a CD Writer on their system, than they should know how to do a 'bit to
bit' copy of a CD! What do you call all the kids ripping music?
extra-ordinary?

I think you're giving users too much credit and ASSUMING issues that aren't
necessarily true. I have a CD Writer on my system...I have a DVD writer,
too. And I have no idea how to do 1/2 the things it can do. I don't know how
to "rip" music and yes...I ask Greg or my teenagers to help me when I want
to transfer music! Hell...I just spent the last hour trying to figure out
how to get my new iPod to transmit music over my car radio...and Greg
figured it out in 2 mins. Yes, he's an extraordinary user! ;-)

So when it comes to that stuff...I guess *I* would be called an "ordinary
user." And I have no problem with that label, since it's TRUE in this case!
Just the other day a client told he she's had a scanner on her system for a
year and wanted to know how to use it. JUST because there's stuff on your
system doesn't mean you know how to use it all. If that were true...there
wouldn't be a million user groups to help people learn.<shrug>

>I'm having another slice of Rum cake! wish you could join me!

Thanks...but I quit! ;-)

Just as an FYI...maybe you didn't realize how it sounded and maybe I
overreacted???? I just see too many folks replying (throughout all the
groups I support) with answers like "why on Earth would you want to do
that?"...and THAT *I* find insulting!

>I wasn't jumping on him, note my LOLs,

Yeah, but that ONLY means "laughing out loud"...so are you laughing AT me or
WITH me! And what on earth makes you think EVERYONE knows what LOL means
anyway? <wink>

Merry Christmas Dian and all,

I wasn't jumping on him, note my LOLs, he wants to prevent CD duping! note,
he mention the current state of CD Writers...We all know about BMG and other
companies trying to prevent CDs from being copied, everyone on the list
responding has been addressing protecting a PowerPoint doc...NOT preventing
a CD Writer from making a dup of a CD! And yes I get offended when someone
labels computer users, he mentioned 'ordinary user' If an 'ordinary user'
has a CD Writer on their system, than they should know how to do a 'bit to
bit' copy of a CD! What do you call all the kids ripping music?
extra-ordinary? You edited out the part where I said ' I know you didn't
mean it'

I also mention to him to use Google - first line. I feel if I was jumping on
him, I would have said that Duping CDs is not an Office Problem. If he was
to post question to a hardware newsgroup they will laugh at him.

I was trying to help while being funny, I have total respect for your skills
Dian, sorry you didn't catch the humor in my answer! Merry Christmas! ;-)
I'm having another slice of Rum cake! wish you could join me! ;-) <paul>
