Ok, Dave...this could be a lot of things. The one known issue that comes to
mind (if you are using Excel 2002, tho it may also refer to other versions)
is one concerning the Text Import Wizard. If you tried to import a text
file into Excel, then cancelled that, Excel files no longer open from
Windows Explorer. Microsoft has a fix for this (and, possibly it fixes this
problem even if the Text Import Wizard was not the cause?) Read this
article and see if it helps you some:

Subject: [mso] Excel - double-click vs. File>Open

Morning list.

I've noticed recently that when I double-click an excel file (e.g. from the
dekstop/explorer) Excel opens, but the file does not. However if (from
Excel) I do a file>open on the file it opens fine.

I'm not sure if this is an office problem, or a file-system (windows 2000)
as I've also seen this problem in the past with Photoshop files.

Any clues?

Cheers,

Dave.
