Hi John

Either select the column and then Data/Validation and work through the
dialogs. Or select the first cell, Data/Validation and work through the
dialogs,  Check that the dollar signs are in the right place and drag (or
copy of ctrl-D) the cell down the column.

With the second issue, select the cell and Data/Validation then go through
the dialogs.

The source list for the cell must either be on the same worksheet, or be a
named range.
