I use it quite often in powerpoint to save some of the slides in a
presentation. Just select the ones you want and drag them to the desktop.
Creates a "scrap" file. Works great!

It is not really bizarre. It is useful in Word where you can copy scraps of
text to desktop files and then use them as bullet text for a new document.

I have never used it in Excel and would need to try it out, due to the more
complex nature of a spreadsheet, but I can think of situations where it
could be helpful.

I tried it and it works well. Just select an area of the spreadsheet and
drag it to the desktop. Then drag it back to another place or another
spreadsheet. Fantastic!

Best Regards

Wow. Amazing, Graham. I confess that I found it difficult to believe but I
tried it, and it actually DOES that. I would personally never have actually
chosen to paste a spreadsheet to a folder, but what bizarre behavior!

You have used Copy OK, but you are trying to Paste into a folder instead
of into a new spreadsheet WITHIN Excel.

All of a sudden when I try to copy part of a spreadsheet I get the entire
spreadsheet named "SCRAP". I have no idea what I did to make this happen. I
do know that I have used this function Copy and Paste,in the past, with
excellent results. Did I do something to create this monster in my
computer?
